There's a lot of models that let you turn used spools into storage drawers (I like this one: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2840594) but there's basicallyzero useful ways to mount them... Until now!

The models (and .scad!) in this thing will let you print out a vertical wall mount for 1-inch PVC pipe that'll let youusefully hang up all those used filament spool drawers. It includes printable collets and bearings that make it super fun and easy to accessall the storage your used-up filament spools can offer!

Print instructions

Resolution doesn't matter but make sure to use at least 15% infill and 3+ perimeters on the bottom bracket to ensure it stays nice and strong.

Also, I recommend printing the thrust bearings in PETG since it has the lowest friction when paired with Airsoft pellets.

Assembly

There's detailed notes about assembly in the .scad but this isn't Kerberos! Mount the top+bottom brackets on your wall and put the colllets, bearings, and spools on it in the following order:

  • Collet (pointy end down to start--or optionally use a "Topmost Clamping Collet" upside down)
  • Bearing
  • Collet (pointy end up into the spool)
  • Spool
  • Collet (pointy end down into the spool)
  • Repeat until you get to the top where you'll use the "Topmost Clamping Collet" to lock the spools in place (to prevent them from wobbling).
I've include pictures of each layer and there's also a video so you shouldn't have to think too hard :D
