Climbing Skin Tail Clip

Overview:

This design is for a tail clip to be used with climbing skins used for backcountry skiing, ski mountaineering, and randonnee racing. This design replaces the stock clips in the event that the design which shipped with your skins is poorly designed, or brakes. Design has been tested for light usage and works well, but has not been tested for aggressive kick turns or stabbing ski tails into the snow for storing.

There are three separate designs in this upload; Black Diamond (BD), G3/K2, and Pomoca.NOTE: BD and Pomoca versions have not been tested on snow. Therefore feedback would be greatly appreciated.

• REV 05 - Updated BD clip to increase thickness for skis, and reduced width by 1.5mm. Also, included a sketch on how the tail clip is fixed to the back of the ski, as I have run into people using this clip incorrectly. 

Print Settings:

• Material - PETG, ABS, or PC - PLA has been tested but is brittle at lower temps. If printing with PLA bring a spare clip with you while touring.
• Perimeters - 3 (0.4mm Nozzle)
• Supports - Needed
• Infill Percentage - PLA: 100%, PETG: 50%, ABS: 40%, PC: 30%
• Layer Resolution - 0.1mm

Additional Details:

• STEP File has been included so that modifications to the original model can be made easily.
• This was designed in SolidWorks.
