This is the 3rd installment of my major MMU2s upgrade. The idler body did not need much work, unless you ever wanted to use that part again after removing the idler. I had to break mine to get the idler out.

Goals:

  • Make the idler easier to remove from the body
  • Reduce parts count as much as possible
  • Print without any supports

Changes:

  • Removed current mount screw from body, less one part
  • Added rod cover to securely hold the rod and make future maintenance easy. Adds 5 parts, net gain of 4 (still ahead of the game with if you include my other mods)
  • Increased the well for the upper bolts of the idler motor. Gives easier access and makes it easier to tighten the bolts well.
  • Decreased the span between the inside of the mounts by 1.5mm. This helps line up the body with the base easier and no longer requires the set screws on either side. Lose 2 screws, a net gain of two. I did leave the holes for the screws if you want to use them.

Next Up: The Idler!

I had all the needed parts left over from my spare parts bag, but here are the links. Minimum quantity I found was 100 so you will have some left over to share with friends.

If you don't have the spare screws here is a link
https://amzn.to/2UPqCb0 Socket Head Assortment. You will need.

2x M3 x 20mm Socket Head Bolt
2x M3 Hex Nut

I think the images from Fusion 360 show this mod very well if anyone would like me to add physical photos I can.
