I really liked Mickael54's side tray design, but I found it difficult to install and remove the trays. This made it challenging to dump out bits of filament that inevitably find their way into the trays. I had to tilt up the entire printer each time.

I set out to create a tray that would be easier to install, without tilting up the printer. I modified the existing design by making the trays slightly shorter and also increased the clearance between the tray and the printer so that the mounting tabs are much easier to slide into place -just tilt the tray up at a 45 degree angle to install.

I also made the trays slightly narrower so that they do not extend past the Z axis stepper motors.

I also added a large cutout in the left tray to allow easier access to the SD card. If you don't like the cutout, you can just mirror the right side tray.

I created this remix using Solidworks 2022's new hybrid modeling features, which allowed me to import the existing STL and slash and chop the existing design to get what I wanted.

I printed these with chalky blue Prusament PETG.

0.2mm layer height

Supports on build plate only (may be able to print without supports, but I haven't tried it)
