Description

PDF

A 3D printable switch plate holder that prevents the switch plate from bending while inserting switches onto the pcb, making the process a lot easier.

Variants

There are several .stl files of the switch plate holder with different thickness. Choose the file which is appropriate for the thickness of your switch plate.

1.5 - 1.6mm Plates (Standard Choice)
  • Use the model with the thickness of 3.0mm.
  • If the PCB uses Mill-Max Sockets 7305 then use the model with the thickness of 3.4mm.
1.7 - 1.8mm Plates
  • Use the model with the thickness of 2.8mm.
  • If the PCB uses Mill-Max Sockets 7305 then use the model with the thickness of 3.2mm.
1.9 - 2.0mm Plates
  • Use the model with the thickness of 2.6mm.
  • If the PCB uses Mill-Max Sockets 7305 then use the model with the thickness of 3.0mm.

Update: Upon request I added another model with a longer handle.

Recommendation: If these numbers don't mean anything to you, you'll most likely be totally fine with the Model “Switch-Plate-Holder-3.0mm”. This can be used pretty much on any keyboard builds.

Print Settings

  • Infill: 15-20% Gyroid
  • Perimeters: 2 (can also do 3)
  • Layer height: 0.2mm
  • Supports: none

Inspiration

I saw the tool being used on a Twitch Stream from Alexotos and was intrigued by it. The shapes are simple enough to be 3D printed so I gave it shot.
