A double helix model representing DNA. My first Open SCAD model, and first contribution to Thingiverse. Happy to hear your feedback.
I had the best results customizing using a large size (like the defaults), and scaling in the slicer due to better corner rounding. The main pic is 80% scale, and 50% is more like a cute little Benchy sized print. Consider a color swap as it looks way better. Consider changing your top and bottom fill patterns to Octagram Spiral.
Depending on your filament, this can be a bit tough to print due to the curling of the leading edge of the arms overhang. You can see in the side-by-side picture that my Prusament PLA Azure Blue printed perfectly, but the Prusament PLA Oh My Gold printed with a ton of curling on the leading edge that messed up the bottom of the arms print. The gold looked so good I ran an experiment to figure out how to fix.
To fix the curling the 3 winning tricks seemed to be:
Slow things down to 10mm/s including travel above the base. This gives plenty of fan time everywhere.
Add a draft shield skirt to give even more fan everywhere.
Use 2 perms rather than 3 so that your fan sticks around the general area longer (infill is after external perimeter)
Maybe I'll try upgrading my stock cooling, and learn some gcode tweaks.
Since this is my first upload, I'd love it if you'd leave a comment or post a make!
