I wanted to make a remix of pear.3d:s mirrored Mk3 MINI-Bear extruder. I had 2 things in mind. The first was to fit a 40x20mm Noctua to make more static pressure to the heatsink. The second was to be able to prefab the cableharness and only need to mount 2 bearing caps and connect the Buddy board for easy assembly/disassembly. I also made shortcut for easier swap of the PTFE-tube without have to disassembly the hole extruder for example(see picture below) You just take out the 2 outer skrews from the cablemount on the X-carriage, take 1,6 tig pin or a small drill and push the square nut up little so you can access the 2 skrews that holds the extruder cover. I made 2 square pieces to cover the inlet of the track for the square nut so it not get stuck than you want to assembly it again. I have use it for a couple of weeks now and i´m very happy with the result. The other extruder for the Original Mk3 i have not test yet(Tested now and works). I wanted to finish with the MINI-Bears before i disassemble 1 more printer.
But it is one catch with this. For the first you ruin the warranty but if you have make a BEAR that ship has already sailed anyway :) The other thing is the power to the fan. It seems that it is a limit for the fan. I have read on the forum a little and found that some guys have sort it out. One guy had used the power to the FS-Sensor, i looked at it now but not find it. I have just a temporary solution right now so i could test it if the extruder worked first before i solve the fan issue. I using 5v from a extern USB right now and have tried it with everything and no trace of any heatcreep at all. And you can really feel a big difference. If i touch the heatsink when i use it it feels cold. You need to cut the hose-insulation of the heater cable by half to fit betveen the Extruder-mount and the X-carriage. But it´s protected of the 2 (see picture)
Printed in Verbatim Black PETG 4 perimeter 0,2mm layerhight, no support needed.
2021-10-10 Added 2 more Fanshrouds. Both for “Original” Mk3s and for MINI-Bear. Made some small changes to the MK3 extuder to fit better. I have also test the Original MK3 Extruder and it worked fine. But it have the opposite issue. The MINI-Bear do not start the hotend fan from the Buddyboard but work just fine with the Noctua Printfan. I still use the 5v extern USB power to the hotend fan until i find a better solution.
The “Original” MK3 Extruder work just fine with the Noctua-hotend fan from the Einsy-Board but the Noctua- printfan just spin for a couple of seconds. Have not check why yet bec. i wanted to test how the extruder worked first so i just assemble and test it with the OEM radial-printfan and it worked just fine. It´s a big difference in static flow and you can feel it when you put the finger close to the outlet.
Both Extruders still have the OEM printfan mount so you can choose which one you want.
Hope you like it.
